And we managed to keep data offline without needing a massive app download. It also works well if you only have an intermittent network connection because the definitions are stored offline, locally on the device. You can see your word history and revisit definitions, or make your own list of favourite words to help build up your vocabulary. The speech function helps provide the correct pronunciation. Definitions include synonyms and antonyms which allows the dictionary to also serve as a thesaurus. Wildcard characters can be used to help with word games like crosswords and scrabble where only some of the letters are known, or you have to find an anagram, or with spelling. Then you can follow the links in the definition page to get more word definitions. As you type, Dictionary homes in on the word you are looking for. The home page contains a randomly selected word cloud which will pique your curiosity and help you improve your vocabulary, while the search box allows you to find specific words easily. The dictionary definitions are stored locally, and because it's ad-free there's no need for a network connection. Dictionary is ideal for both native English speakers and English learners or people studying the English language. i just did a brief over view.Dictionary is a free offline English dictionary containing over 200,000 words and definitions and no ads. then in filezilla(FTP client) i put in my URL and username and password and click connect and presto I have FTP access to my content. I forwarded port 21 (which is FTP) to my NAS. The next thing i did was setup port forwarding on my Router. I can then upload via the web browser if i want. a real location) I hit my login page of my NAS. That way if a hard drive fails i just replace the failed hard drive and the good one writes all the file back to the new one (I have not had to do this yet) anyways I setup my NAS with which allows me to get a URL and point it to my NAS then whenever my IP address changes the NAS auto updates the URL on the new IP. What this does is Whenever a file is written to 1 hard drive a copy is written to the other. I have a NAS (Network Attached Storage) that has 2 Hard Drives setup in a RAID configuration. If FTP is indeed what solves my problem, can you tell me what I need to do in order to setup a server, I read some replies and comments that the best way is to get a VPS and setup my own FTP server, is that so?Īll info to give me a better idea of what I need to do and what my options are is appreciated :) Thanks in advance! I don't know if that's correct but I guess the way to do that is FTP (all of the above websites do not provide FTP access.)Ĭan you tell me if FTP is indeed the right / only way to access a remote file server with Total Commander?

The thing is: I don't want browser interface or software from the storage provider, things like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive have nice prices but I want to access my files directly through Total Commander. I have a basic idea that I want to have an online backup of some files and access them from anywhere, I have some personal preferences and since I don't know too much I need some help to decide what to do.īasically what I want is a place to store files, a few hundred GBs of available storage would be nice.
